Program areas are those areas identified in the strategic plan as priority areas for allocation of funds based on the Commission's evaluation of county needs and community input.

Preschool Initiative

Health Access Inititive - Child Wellness

This program area involves partnering with programs to expand and/or enhance their services and working with foundations and other funders to promote the priorities of the First 5 Commission.

Rural Home Visitation

Home Visitation Programs show parents how to work with their children to develop important skills for a good future which strengthens the bond between parent and child.

County wide/Commission Driven/Systems Initiatives

These are initiatives that most likely involve services and systems throughout San Joaquin County. That is, they are not restricted to the needs of a certain geographical or cultural community but reach and benefit many populations within the county.

Health Access Initiative - Collaborative for Healthy Change

These projects address the concern of childhood obesity through nutrition and physical activity efforts and change at multiple levels including individual behavior, the family environment, community and organizational practices and public policy.
