Are you a new parent or caregiver, or a parent or caregiver with young children? First 5 San Joaquin offers home visiting services to help you navigate some of the challenges of being a parent in today’s world, to ultimately help you be the best parent you can be during the most important years of your child’s life.
All First 5 San Joaquin home visiting services are FREE and offered in the comfort of your own home. You can be connected with trained professionals in the area who will help you thrive by:
Providing tools and support for positive health, well-being and development
Getting kids ready to succeed in school with early literacy support
Connecting you with supportive group meetings and community resources
Helping you with searching and applying for jobs, including interview skills, resume development, job application submission and child care access
In 2018-2019, First 5 San Joaquin home visiting programs helped 756 children and their parents by providing home visits that were focused on child development, family self-sufficiency, healthy eating and physical activity, and job skills training.

Under the Home Visitation Initiative, programs provide home visitation services to empower parents to make healthy lifestyle changes, improve parenting practices, and prepare children for school success. Home Visitors provide lessons focused on nutrition, physical activity, financial literacy and early literacy.
The FamilyWORKs program provides home visitation services to California Work Opportunity and Responsibility for Kids (CalWORKs) families with children ages 0 to 3. Families in this program participate in parent education, family engagement and early literacy activities, and receive assistance with job searching and applications.

The JourneyWORKs program provides home visitation services to address mental health and substance abuse issues. Home visits are conducted by Family Advocates that work with parents to set goals, obtain treatment, and connect with helpful community services. Families that are participating in the CalWORKs Welfare-to-Work program are eligible for this home visiting program.
