Who are Parent Educators?
Parent Educators are trained individuals ready to assist and guide parents through the ups and downs of parenthood. Parent Educators receive extensive training prior to conducting home visits. Parent Educators specialize in providing personalized plans for each family they serve.
How do home visits work?
As we continue to practice social distancing, all home visits are currently happening virtually. Virtual visits typically take place two times a month and occasional check-in phone calls may happen in between visits. Your Parent Educator will call you before your first visit to make sure you know how to connect virtually and to arrange delivery of materials for your virtual home visit.
How should I prepare for my first home visit?
Parent Educators will call you prior to your first visit to go over things such as internet connections, materials needed, and other concerns you may have. Parent Educators take a non-judgmental approach to providing services to ensure you feel as comfortable as possible.
In 2018-2019, First 5 San Joaquin home visiting programs helped 756 children and their parents by providing home visits that were focused on child development, family self-sufficiency, healthy eating and physical activity, and job skills training.
